Today we spent time with our big buddies. We had lots of fun drawing with sidewalk chalk together.

Special Visitor

Today we had a very special visitor - Lavender the dairy cow. We heard a story about Lavender and watched her being milked.

I have added 3 short videos of our kids using free I-Pad apps to practice our reading and writing.  It has been quite exciting to see the kids' reading and writing abilities grow this year!  

 

Phonics Centres

Phonics Centres

Here is a video of the three phonics stations we are practicing.  The stations are:

• Listening to the sounds in words:                                                                                                                                                                                                                               examples:  cat has 3 sounds   c-a-t,   dish has 3 sounds   d-i-sh

• Spelling & Printing: 

• Manipulating Phonemes (sounds): change one sound at a time and manipulate the sounds in the following order: beginning, end, and middle sound.                                                                                          

          example: (1) change cat into hat, (2) change hat into ham, (3) change ham into him

** please use the phonics flash cards that were sent home to build words at home!

Milk Break

We helped Mr Reimers Destination  Imagination team by drinking milk and telling the big kids what we know and like about milk

Writing Stories

We are getting reall;y good at using our sound knowledge to write stories. We draw for 10 minutes and then spend 10 minutes adding coulor and detail. Last we spend 10 minutes writing the words to our story. The teacher lets us wirte the sounds we hear to make the words we need for our stories.
